Abstract
Surveys for external quality assessment in blood banking were carried out in 1995. The response rate was 72.7% for 1st trial and 73.6% for 2nd trial. Test items were ABO cell and serum grouping, Rho(D) typing, crossmatching, direct antiglobulin
test,
antibody screening and identification test. the average accuracy rates of ABO cell and serum prouping were 96.1% and 96.7% respectively. The accuracy rates of Rho(D) typing were 99.4% for positive samples and 98.2% for negative ones. The average
accuracy rates of crossmatcing were 97.3% for compatible samples, 97.6% for incompatible samples which could be detected by saline method, and 73.0% for incompatible samples which could be detected only by 37¡Éalbumin or antiglobulin method. The
accuracy rates of direct antiglobulin test were 98.3% for negative samples and 84.9% for positive samples. The number of laboratories, which had responded to antibody screening and identification test, were only 17 and 15 respectively.
